Patty would like to know ore about the "two bikers" that Col. Tate saw at the gate to 10050 Cielo who went back to Spahn. Interesting.

I am almost through reading the book. It seems that they were identified as Straight Satans and Col. Tate followed down to Santa Susana Pass right up to Spahn Ranch. That's what the book says. B

Also said in the book that the Col. and his army intelligence buddies were able to piece the whole thing together with the help of the other law enforcement officials working the Hinman case. Colonel Tate saw the connection right away but was unable to convince Lt. Helder of LAPD.

This is beautifully written yet heartbreaking - they did an amazing job putting this book together!

Did anyone else notice Debra's name was only mentioned a couple times? The first was at the start when Patti said she didnt really feel close to Debra and the second was when she was at the funeral when she was talking about being alone and Debra staying around her boyfriend the entire time?

Even the dedication to the book leaves her out yet names every other member of the family?

I wonder if it was simply a matter of Debra not wanting anything to do with the book or if there something else behind it?

I found it a bit odd too, but it's almost as if Debra and her family are stranges to Patti's kids now. I also found it strange to learn that Patti had left custody to her children to Alisa Statman after her death instead of to her husband, former NBA player Don Ford. By all accounts, all three children are very close to their dad.

maria, how did Patti leave custody of her children to Alisa? Didn't Don Ford have legal rights as their father after Patti died? Maybe Ford gave his consent to this.

@Bobby
I know that Brie is Patti's daughter - I just find it strange that a book on Sharon's life that has so much of the families 'voice' in it wouldn't involve Debra even in passing..

@carolMR
I've often wondered that myself. I don't know what the arrangement was. But in the book, Alisa Statman indicates right in the beginning that she and Patti were "domestic partners" and that they lived in Patti's chldhood home, the home she lived in that August of 1969. She also stated that she retained custody of Patti's two younger children after her death. Not sure what happened to Brooke, who is referred as "Ally" in the book, but she raised Brie and Bryce after Patti's death.

Also, Alisa said that she bought Patti's childhood home to raise the children after Colonel Tate decided to sell and move away.

I also remember reading somewhere that Alisa lived in the guest house at Cielo Drive in the mid
80s and that she had befriended....not sure if it was Bill Nelson, or Ed Sanders...but someone closely affiliated with the study of the case...also read that she had gotten hold of the crime scene and autopsy photos of the victims.

I find all of this so strange, and then she meets up with Patti, becomes her "domestic partner" and ends up raising her children?

Seems to me that she had an almost morbid interest in the case even before getting close to the family.

Alisa Statman is a great gal and her reputation has been tarnished with nasty rumors over the years. We're all guilty at times of believing things we're heard and then take them as fact. I know from Alisa herself that the photographs she obtained were the ones of Sharon, Jay et al in their final days and she returned them to the Tate's to have. We can sit and speculate her person or motives but why? The bad rap that's been laid on her for too long should finally be lifted off by reading 'Restless Souls.' It's obvious those closest to Sharon and Patti loved her and appreciated her support including Patti's kids. And that..should be enough for us all.

I watched both Alisa and Brie on numerous news shows promoting this book, and I have to say that I was completely impressed by both of them. No hidden agendas here -- two honest ladies who just want a different perspective put on the victims, families and the case. Doris, Patti, and certainly Colonel Tate were or became very shrewd judges of character and I hardly believe that any one of them would have fallen prey to someone whose intentions were not noble, let alone let them near Patti's kids.

@eddy
From what I recall she was with Bill Nelsons at Deemer's house and saw a table full of photos and negatives at the cielo house - since they had the negatives AND photos she felt that none of the family members had ever been able to see them so she took them and gave them to the families.

Id do the same thing if I was in her place.

Well just in watching this clip...Alisa Statman seems to be in denial a bit...to say there were no drugs in the house or drug use going on is wrong. And I wonder about the "orgies" or whatever because I'm convinced there were some movies or film removed from Cielo after the murders. I'm sure the book is interesting but the justice has been served and I actually do wonder about a hidden agenda.

Regardless, it's great to see you back Col !

I believe it rings true that Polanski was kinky supreme, with Sharon Tate telling Joanna Petet that they would watch a film of polanski making it with a young girl, while he and tate had sex. the rep of the house was bad. I think Shsron Tate would have done anything for Polanski, whether for love or career advancement who knows? she was not a saint none of us are. Also the reports of her on film doing it with several names in showbiz. Polanski did look for film when he went back to the house this book of statmans is too homogonized!

just curious. the book makes it sound like alisa statman was a domestic partner of patti (as in a relationship) and then in some instances it sounds like she was a renter on the property. what was it?
